Dyslexia Therapy, also known as Academic Language Therapy, is designed for children or adults struggling with reading, spelling, and writing. People with dyslexia or dysgraphia have “language learning differences” that require special methods and materials. I use Take Flight, a comprehensive intervention for students with dyslexia. Take Flight has been proven successful for children and adults with dyslexia or dysgraphia.
You or your child DO NOT have to have a documented diagnosis of dyslexia or reading disability to receive services.
If you or your child struggle with reading, writing, and/or spelling; or you are concerned that your child is struggling and not keeping up with peers, this is the help you have been seeking!
Take Flight is an Orton Gillingham, comprehensive, sequential curriculum that incorporates multisensory teaching techniques. It includes the five components of effective reading instruction along with writing and spelling. The five components of reading are phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension.
Take Flight is a two-year curriculum written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSHRC). Take Flight was designed for use by Certified Academic Language Therapists for children with dyslexia ages seven and older. The two-year program is designed to be taught four days per week (60 minutes per day) or five days per week (45 minutes per day). It is intended for one-on-one or small-group instruction.
